Work hours should be distributed based on relevant business considerations including employee performance, availability, and licensed coverage requirements.
*May not apply to employees working in a store location subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Hours Reduction Based on Performance
Reduction of hours may occur because of poor employee performance, however, reduction of hours is not a substitute for performance management. Performance issues should be addressed through the appropriate form of corrective action as they arise.
Hours Reduction Due to Employee’s Limited Availability
Reduction of hours may also occur if an employee’s availability does not align with the shifts needed to meet business needs. All employees should provide their current availability by completing an Employee Availability Form, which managers should review and use to support their decisions.
